Antique Ivory Page Turner from The Kellogg Newspaper Company
This is an antique ivory page turner from the Kellogg Newspaper Company. First popularized in the 19th century, page turners are used to maneuver the pages of books, particularly when dealing with rare or delicate ones, in order to not expose the pages to the oil of fingertips. They can also be used when reading a newspaper in order to not smear ink on one’s hands, as was likely the intended purpose of this particular one given that it was manufactured by a newspaper company. This page turner measures approximately 11.25 inches in length and approximately 1 inch wide at the widest point. Excellent graining.
