Schuylkill Water Works Print by W.H. Bartlett
This is a print of the Schuylkill Water Works by the famous British artist William Henry Bartlett. The Schuylkill Water Works, known today as the Fairmount Water Works, were the second municipal waterworks in Philadelphia, built between 1812 and 1872 and operated until 1909. This illustration seen in this print was drawn by Bartlett during one of his four visits to the United States between 1836 and 1852. The frame measures at 30.5 inches by 24.5 inches.
